Media veteran Ed Murrieta  — contact him: — founded Pot Appetit in 2010 as a cannabis lifestyles content studio. Much like his career — paperboy, sportswriter, features writer, food writer, editor, producer and consultant — and the cannabis industry itself, Pot Appetit has evolved and matured.

Prior to founding Pot Appetit, Ed worked as a reporter, editor and producer for the Sacramento Bee, the Tacoma News Tribune,, and GraceCom: The Media Ministry of Grace Cathedral San Francisco.

Ed grew up working in his parents’ restaurants and worked in food-service marketing and operations at Stanford University after graduating from the California Culinary Academy in 2002.

Ed helped market Sacramento’s first Farm-to-Fork Festival and produced a black-tie fundraiser for the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra. While in Tacoma, he produced wine-and-food tastings and pairings in restaurants and private homes.

Most recently, he’s covered cannabis culture, events, food and travel for the San Francisco Chronicle and
